Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 24.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Sandown Hillside, Doomben, Murray Bridge and Belmont Park.
RANDWICK: RACE 10 @ 4:25 PM
DRIFT NET (3) expecting her to go on with it now after rounding them up with ridiculous ease when scoring over 1300m at Warwick Farm. Maps to get the right run and has further improvement to come in this stronger race. SHE'S UNUSUAL (10) promising mare who looks to have come back even stronger judging by her slashing second to Thunderlips over 1400m at Randwick Kensington. Leading rider booked and can go quickly through her grades this time in. MISS KIM KAR (13) lightly raced filly facing her stiffest test to date. Drops sharply in weight after taking good ground off Drift Net when third over 1300m at Warwick Farm. Could be on the right part of the track heading into this. Respect. ELBA (4) has a fitness edge over a lot of these and like the way she closed off when third over 1200m at this track. Ash Morgan takes the ride and sure to go close.
SELECTIONS: Drift Net to win.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 9 @ 4:35 PM
Onto the last and OH TOO GOOD (7) looks nicely placed stepping up in trip off a good return at Caulfield. She hit the line well there over 1200m to be beaten under a length over a trip that was always going to be too sharp. She's got the record of a good horse having never missed a place in nine goes, boasting four wins. Suspect she improves quickly here. SUNSHINEINMYPOCKET (4) is the main danger. He kept coming to score a narrow win last time over this distance. He too boasts the record of a promising horse, it's just how big a start he gives them from the wide draw. Wary of STEP ASIDE (8) who sprinted quickly to score first up in Sydney. Must respect the Waller yard pitching him down here. HUGHES (14) was behind Sunshineinmypocket last time but not far away and must have each-way claims again. Watch the betting with BRIGHT STRIPES (3) who has pieces of Irish form that are very competitive here.
SELECTIONS: Oh Too Good to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 4 @ 1:28 PM
The $160,000 Listed Chief De Beers. SPACEWALK (2) has a handy record over this distance range with two wins and six placings from 11 outings and will be ready to peak now fourth-up from the spell. Gun hoop McDonald reunites and should be right there when the judge calls a halt. The well-related APPIN GIRL (7) (half to G2 winner Sesar) resumes here but has won two from three when first-up and is more than capable on her day. Can run a big race while fresh. CANNONBALL (1) also hails from a handy family (full to G2 winner Marine One) and will strip fitter third-up. Has a bit of class on this field and a return to form would not shock. NETTUNO (5) has placed three from three over this trip and gets Williams on to navigate from the sticky alley. Top-three hope with any luck in running. MANHOOD (10) best of the rest from the inside alley.
SELECTIONS: Spacewalk to salute.
MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 3 @ 1:42 AM
GREAT MAXIMUS (9) progressed nicely second-up when chasing hard to just miss at headquarters. His effort was backed right up by the clock and he gets a stack of weight off. Peaking now and will take some stitching. LET'S GET DOWN (6) resumes off a short freshen and was going very well prior, consistently supported in the market. Loves this trip and is right in the mix. KARACASU (1) brings strong consistency and gets some welcome class relief. Suited over this track and distance, he deserves serious respect. BALLON D'OR (8) has been charging home in each of her three runs this prep. Perfectly placed back at a track and trip where she is unbeaten. Live hope.
SELECTIONS: Great Maximus to win.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 4 @ 3:51 PM
POND MASTER (3) got back to winning form last start at Ascot when running away to win comfortably by 1.3L in this grade. The step out to 1400m again is no issue and Pike remains in the saddle. Maps beautifully once again and can repeat the dose. KING HIT (5) got a long way back last start but flashed late to finish 2.2L off Pond Master. Fitter and further are both ticks for him and he'll sit much closer this time. Can strike in what looks a suitable race. SHOW THE WAY (6) has placed 2/3 fresh and has looked good at the trials coming into this. Can put his best foot forward. ELITE MISSILE (1) disappointed last start but started this campaign in good style. Form out of his last start has worked out well and he can bounce back now.
SELECTIONS: Backing Pond Master to win again.
