Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Canterbury, Grafton, Mornington, Cairns and Gawler.

CANTERBURY: RACE 8 @ 4:20 PM

SACREDARRO (6) ploughed through the heavy (9) going on resumption when a tough winner over 1300m at Goulburn. Looking for this trip and further now and has genuine top three claims. PINK SHALALA (2) win record hardly excites but worth noting J Mac sticks after going under narrowly when second over 1550m at this track. Near his top now and will be in this for a long way. WHO EVER THOUGHT (3) well supported third up when leading throughout on his home track for a popular victory over the 1400m in the Scone Country Cup. Gets in light with McMurray's 3kg claim and can keep the ball rolling. FORECASTER (1) the best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Backing Sacredarro.

GRAFTON: RACE 2 @ 11:22 AM

GUARDED OPTIMIST (3) returned to form last start when he raced up on the speed and boxed on well for second over 1800m at the Sunshine Coast. New to this trip but his European staying pedigree suggests he will run it out. Genuine filly MAD ANA (12) won her maiden two back over this trip at Ipswich then found the line well to get up for second in a 2450m Class1 at Beaudesert a fortnight ago. Nicely weighted and is certain to run this journey right out. FULMEN FILOU (9) had his first outing for the Knight stable and was thirty-two days between runs when a game third over 1800m at Inverell recently. Can go a couple better with the senior rider going on. HARDASH (4) was off his game at Gunnedah last start but has placed two from two at Grafton and will get the trip so give him another chance. CROWN'M (1) continues to improve at each appearance this time in work and should be peaking now.
SELECTIONS: Guarded Optimist to win.

MORNINGTON: RACE 4 @ 2:10 PM

EGERTON (8) is coming along nicely in her second preparation as a five-year-old mare, winning both starts over 1000m at Pakenham in fine style. Up 2kg in the weights but has more upside than these and can keep the streak going. A HIDDEN TREASURE (9) is going well of late, charging home for a minor placing at Sale last time out. She won her only go over this route and should be hard to hold out again. CONDOR (2) has come back in fine order and can measure up off a good BM58 win here last time out. BELLA CINQUE (3) has claims on best form.
SELECTIONS: Egerton to win.

CAIRNS: RACE 2 @ 1:46 PM

CALDANTE (1) loves it here on his home circuit with three wins and three seconds from ten outings and has been racing with a lot of confidence of late. Strips fitter third-up from the spell and is drawn to sit up on speed from the inside marble. Looks the one they all have to run down. PREMIUM STAR (6) was a touch plain at the latest effort but go on the strong win over this course and distance two back. Can bounce right back. VANCOUVER BAY (2) has a handy record over this seven-furlong journey with a win and three placings from seven attempts. Include with Wiggins on board. GROVERS PREDICTION (7) rounds out the selections.
SELECTIONS: Caldante to go back-to-back.

GAWLER: RACE 4 @ 2:30 PM

WILD WILD WEST (6) made a promising debut when runner-up over this track and trip. He showed natural speed and should take plenty of improvement. Looks well placed to go one better despite the wide draw. THANK GOD I GOTHIM (2) hasn't fired back in Vic this prep but does strike an easier assignment this time and strips cherry-ripe fitness now fourth-up. Should be taken seriously. OLD MATE BLUEY (4) drops back in trip off a 44-day freshen and steps out for a new stable. Might benefit from the fresh start. His form reads modestly but a market watch is advise. INVINCIBLE ALICE (9) is expected to improve sharply at her second start.
SELECTIONS: Wild Wild West to win.
