Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 05.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Taree, Wagga, Geelong, Mackay and Bunbury.

TAREE: RACE 3 @ 1:50 PM

DARK STRATUM (1) brings superior ratings to this contest and won't find an easier race. Chased hard in stronger company when a respectable third over 1600m at Canberra in C1 grade. Has shown ability in town and looks too good for these. TEMPLE BELLS (7) has returned a much tougher filly this time in and looks the main danger after figuring in the minor money at all four runs this prep. Kept finding in the heavy (8) going when third over 1435m at Grafton. Regular rider sticks and has raced well at this track and trip in the past. STAR LACY (12) shuffled back from the inside gate and was never in the contest when sixth over 1435m at Grafton. Gets in light again with Farr's claim and improvement is expected. I ALONE (2) up in grade and no match for Solitario when seventh over 1300m at Scone. This looks significantly easier and races on his home track for the first time.
SELECTIONS: Dark Stratum to get off the mark.

WAGGA: RACE 4 @ 2:40 PM

DEFLECTOR (7) has returned in good order this prep, finishing a lip away at Corowa last time in a determined showing. Building nicely and keeps McDougall from the inside alley. Ready. BOMERTON (1) couldn't live up to market expectations when resuming at Albury last month. Strips fitter and can feature prominently with natural improvement. Worth another chance. SANTOLINI (10) finds it tough to break through but has ratings littered through her form that can see her be competitive. Backs up quickly and is worth keeping safe. DENNAY (3) has failed to threaten in his two runs but does come through some hot maidens. This looks more suitable and he can improve sharply at start three. Don't dismiss easily.
SELECTIONS: Deflector to win.

GEELONG: RACE 7 @ 3:30 PM

SEPHIA (10) is the one with upside that appeals. She beat a consistent one first up at Warrnambool before being thrown in the deep end, skipping multiple grades into a 3yo BM78 at Sandown Hillside behind Ahha Ahha. That was a strongly run race and the winner was dominant, and Sephia was only four lengths off the second placegetter. Comes way back in grade here and can improve again. PURVEYOR (2) is the danger. He ran well fresh at Cranbourne when finding the line nicely in a slowly run 1600m. He's consistent and should take holding out. UNDERSTUDY (8) is going well this time in, just outside the placings at Ballarat in a BM64 last start. Finds the right race this time. EYE FOR AN EYE (7) has claims on best form and is an each way chance.
SELECTIONS: Sephia to win.

MACKAY: RACE 7 @ 4:05 PM

They have scratched another fancied stablemate, leaving PARADE GROUND (1) the one to beat. He made it 2/3 this preparation, winning a 70 comfortably at Rockhampton, and maps for a soft run. CABALO ESCURO (9) has been busting to win here at this level. Maps well and deserves another chance. LOGAN STREET LION (1) returned from a spell with fair effort last start when fifth at this track over 1300m. Can feature. THE DRILLER (6) finds tougher, but may be the next best.
SELECTIONS: With Parade Ground.

BUNBURY: RACE 6 @ 6:05 PM

PSYCHO SISTA (4) rose to 1400m last start and didn't run out the extra journey, beaten a long way second-up in a very strong race. Back in grade here is a big tick and she has the speed to roll across from the wide alley. Well placed third-up into the campaign and can get back to winning ways. LILLIAN (6) won on debut in NZ before being picked up by the mighty cerise and white of Peters Investments. Blinkers go on for her return and she shapes similarly to Luvnwar for the same connections last year. CJP rides and she can be flying home at the finish. PINGERS (8) disappointed most recently but was much better in the starts prior. They've been in stronger company than today, and the inside barrier is a big tick. Can give a bold sight. JUST FAMOUS (3) trialled well around some nice types coming in and the 3kg claim comes in handy. Can make an impression on debut. SHOW THE WAY (1) was solid first-up in stronger company and won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Psycho Sista can get back to winning ways.
