Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 4th June 2025

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 04.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Sandown, Doomben, Balaklava and Northam.

WARWICK FARM: RACE 5 @ 3:10 PM

BLACK RUN (1) was ridden more aggressively last start and responded by holding on well for second over 2110m at this track. Gets in with the same weight today and can progress further at the fourth run back. Ready to win. STEEL BLAZE (4) has struggled on wet tracks at his last couple. Finished second to the in-form Campaldino on a good track in the Orange Cup three back. Can bounce back to form if the track is not rain affected. The sparingly raced import TRAPALANDA (5) comes here third-up after a couple of moderate efforts to launch his Australian career. Scored a big win third-up last September in Ireland. Watch for a spike in form today. DEMARCAY (10) hasn't fired at all this prep but he is fitter now and gets a firmer surface so on the limit could be a surprise packet. UP AND UNDER (2) just ran out of puff near home last time when third-up. Cherry-ripe now and will give them something to catch.
SELECTIONS: Black Run to win.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 3 @ 1:35 PM

No reason to jump off the progressive BLUESTONE (3) who made it three from four with an impressive win at Sandown Hillside last time out. He had no luck in running but found a gap up the rails and surged late to get up by a neck. Can continue to improve and might just prove too good again. LAST RAIDER (8) ran well behind the smart Party Crasher first up at Morphettville over 2009m and should be fitter for that. He's a handy stayer on his day who will be hard to hold out. SUN GIFT (9) improved getting to this trip behind Bluestone last time out, only beaten a length. Should be right there again. GHETTO SUPASTAR (6) doesn't win out of turn but has claims on best form if he can find it.
SELECTIONS: Bluestone to win.

DOOMBEN: RACE 2 @ 11:57 AM

ON POINT PIXIE (14) wasn't disgraced in Listed grade last time out and prior to that had strung four placings together to start the career. Sure to find task much easier and looks very hard to toss. PROVOKER (5) has been thereabouts in both outings to date and is another that has been well in commission. Respect from the Freedman barn. SWEET PRETENDER (15) placed at Listed level two back before failing in the same company at the latest effort. Worth another chance. EGYPTIAN GODDESS (9) best of the rest despite the wide draw. SELECTIONS: On Point Pixie to break through.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 7 @ 4:10 PM

SAINT MICHAEL (4) is a winner here before and seems as though he has been waiting for the 1600m. He'll do no work at all in the run and as long as he gets clear at the right time, has to be right there at the end. RETOURNE (1) has the first outing since arriving from Victoria. A lot of his efforts were quite respectable but just has the one win. OBI (3) has had plenty of starts but his only go here was a victory. Will be getting a fair way back from the draw. JAMROCK (8) took no real part last time. Back to the turf should help. SEAFARING (15) is coming back in ground for this. Form has been OK.
SELECTIONS: Really think Saint Michael has to be the bet from the gate with Retourne the danger.

NORTHAM: RACE 6 @ 6:10 PM

SIMPLY THINKIN' (3) had threatened twice at Ascot, before a narrow defeat at Belmont. Will race at peak fitness, and the top hoop stays aboard. Has the inside barrier and is well-placed to win. LINDEN'S GOLD (1) was quickly back on track, winning a 70 at Albany. Lugs more weight but holding the form, he'll be in the finish. BELTA OF A SONG (6) delivered a hat-trick at the back of his previous preparation but has looked in need of her two runs this time around. CJP goes aboard today, and it won't surprise to see an improved effort. FIVE DOWN (2) resumes for Luke Fernie and has trialled well at Ascot. Placed his only start here over the trip, and he's worth a market watch. WAR GEM (7) was better, beaten 1.6L at Belmont and with average luck in the run, he'll be around the mark.
SELECTIONS: Backing Simply Thinkin' to win.
