Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 31.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield, Morphettville, Eagle Farm and Pinjarra Scarpside.
ROSEHILL: RACE 2 @ 11:35 AM
CANADIAN RULER (1) is racing in career-best form for Matthew Dale and is a great chance to chalk up the hat trick. Picked up nicely in the heavy ground at Hawkesbury last time over this distance. Drops 1.5kgs today so despite going up a level looks the one to beat again. MY LAST HOORAY (3) caught the eye two back at Warwick Farm then was ridden on pace last time out over 1200m at Randwick and couldn't quicken as required. Might be looking for this trip now so he deserves another chance. WARRIOR FOR PEACE (10) was lining up for only the fourth time when he came from next to last to record a stunning win over the mile at Scone recently. Back a little in trip and goes from a Class 1 to a Class 3 but he has tremendous scope for improvement. BOYS NIGHT OUT (2) has been racing well in Brisbane and should be cherry ripe fourth-up. Always respect Matthew Dunn runners in Highways. STRAIGHT FIRE (16) strips fitter and is in the mix with a light weight.
SELECTIONS: Canadian Ruler is a nice each-way play.

CAULFIELD: RACE 2 @ 12:25 PM
Incredibly tough and happy to look for a couple at bigger odds. HAPPY LINK (11) is one that fits the bill. She does boast a win over Treasurethemoment and returned well before an excusable effort at Moonee Valley, in the market and dropping right out. Anything on that track that goes 'too bad to be true' at the moment is worth forgiving, and she's a big price now. ZEBELLA (7) was okay at Flemington last time but had been good behind EXCESS (2) at Moonee Valley prior which also ties in Happy Link. Both Zebella & Excess will be up on speed and have good chances. SPARKLING (4) has multiple wins at this journey. Missed the placings last time out but was only 1.75 lengths from the winner over 1300m at Scone. Consider.
SELECTIONS: Backing Happy Link each-way.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 2 @ 12:37 PM
DIVINO CAVALLO (4) was strong to the line when finishing midfield fresh. With that run under her belt and the step up in trip, she looks primed to make a serious impact. The claim gets her in light and she'll prove very tough to stop. ROYAL MAJESTY (5) was a strong winner over this track and trip to kick things off last campaign. Readied with a quiet trial and there's no reason she can't repeat the dose. THE SPRINKLER (7) drove hard to breakthrough and that form has already been franked. Progressive and dangerous. NICISH (9) returned to winning form and drops nicely in weight. Worth serious thought.
SELECTIONS: Divino Cavallo to win.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 4 @ 1:28 PM
The $200,000 Group 3 Lord Mayor's Cup. TAVI TIME (1) bounced back to the winners' list last time out with a strong win in the Scone Cup and has placed two from two over this distance range. Will be at his peak now fourth-up from the spell and gets winning rider McDonald back in the saddle. Can feature prominently from the favourable draw. NEW ENDEAVOUR (5) has been right there in all four outings this campaign and looks to be working up to another victory. Looms as the main danger. BANKERS CHOICE (3) has put back-to-back wins together and has since been given a bit of a freshen up to prepare for the drop back in trip here. Hard to ignore winning form. REGAL AZMON (2) has hit the top-four in 12 of his past 13 starts and doesn't know how to put in a poor one. Has to be included in calculations.
SELECTIONS: Tavi Time to win again.
PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 6 @ 5:30 PM
CELESTIAL STORM (7) resumed with an impressive win when resuming without a trial at Ascot, scoring by 1.5L in this grade. She improved her rating second-up last campaign and that's a worry for her rivals. Can stalk the speed from out wide and score back-to-back victories. RICHANCO (6) made it back-to-back wins with an impressive all-the-way win at Belmont a fortnight ago. He's drawn ideally for the straight course and he'll be right up on the speed once again. Drops in weight for the rise in grade but can bring up the hat-trick. HELL I AM (2) has trialled nicely coming into this and was a first-up winner last campaign. He might find them a touch sharp early doors, but his strength will kick in late and that's where he'll be most dangerous. DUCHESS OF GOSSIP (4) comes in without a trial and wasn't beaten far in Listed company fresh last time in work. Should be right in the finish. HANCHI (5) is better than he showed first-up and can bounce back.
SELECTIONS: Celestial Storm can make it back-to-back wins.
