Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 23.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Inverell, Cranbourne, Geelong, Gold Coast, Gatton, Port Augusta and Canberra.
INVERELL: RACE 4 @ 12:45 PM
BOUVIER (6) smart European filly making her Australian debut for the Brett Cavanough stable. Placed at five of her six runs and should prove too good for these after running third at Chelmsford over 1408m last November. Jockey and trainer are having a great run at present and expected to shed her maiden status. FOUR DEGREES (12) in leading Scone yard and looks to have come back much stronger after resuming with a tough third over 1200m at Mudgee. Can stalk the speed and prove hard to hold out. OL' MATE COOP (13) two-year-old taking on the older horses at his third race start. Powered late in the heavy going when a sound first up third over 1130m at Grafton. Has further upside to come and should not be underestimated. BABY RYAN (2) will find this more to his liking at his third career start. Failed to get through the heavy (10) conditions when fourth over 1300m at Wyong in a Super Maiden. Senior rider back on and will be in this for a long way.
SELECTIONS: Bouvier to shed her maiden status.

GEELONG: RACE 4 @ 2:05 PM
Terrific distance maiden with seven last-start placegetters who are all bursting to get off the mark. KAZUNGULA (4) was beaten a nose two back then placed again latest. The figure from two back is the best of this field and if he runs to that he will go close. ZINOVATION (7) has placed two of three career runs and turned in an eye-catching run latest when over ground for the first time. Expected to measure up. COSMIC (9) was a well-held third two back then hit the line hard over 2580m in a richer maiden at Cranbourne to place. Hard to fault on that run. KAVAL (3) was a close-up fourth here two back then on speed in the latest at odds for third. Longer journey here and will take catching. GOTCHA MOMENT (2) was narrowly beaten in a similar race here last time and another close to breaking through.
SELECTIONS: Follow in on Kazungula.
GOLD COAST: RACE 3 @ 6:30 PM
The feature race on the card, the $1 million Magic Millions National 2YO Classic. PRINCE TYCOON (2) commenced the career in good order with a strong Caulfield win and is sure to have derived a bunch of confidence from that first-up victory. Gets gun hoop Shinn on board to handle the sticky draw and should be right there when the whips are cracking. DRAGONNE ROUGE (6) hasn't put a hoof wrong stringing three wins together on the bounce and it's hard to knock fillies in form. Can continue the picket fence. SISSTAINABLE (10) got the job done over this sprint journey last time out and will be at peak fitness for this. Top-three credentials. AMOSU (5) was a touch disappointing when resuming but go on the solid victory over this course and distance on debut. Worth another chance.
SELECTIONS: Prince Tycoon to win again.
GATTON: RACE 6 @ 3:19 PM
BEEN A SECRET (2) improved again winning a 62 here over the distance. Keep the 1.5g claim and expect her to improve again. Well placed to deliver the hat-trick. HAYAKU (6) gives away starts but has impressed both starts this preparation. Finished hard when beaten a whisker here two weeks ago and he gets plenty of weight relief at this level. REGAL EDITION (1) has returned to racing in solid order and is proven third-up. He has more to give and has each way claims. ARIAT (5) was plain last time but had come off a tidy win at Warwick and that reads well. Comes back in grade and is worth another chance. SELECTIONS: Backing Been A Secret
PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 7 @ 4:55 PM
I'M KENNY (3) was a class (or two) above last start when making light work of his rivals with a dominant all-the-way win over this track and trip. If he finds the front again, he'll take plenty of running down. ICHIBANSAN (2) chased gamely to just miss last start in a good form race at Balaklava. Has built nicely into this campaign and can get the job done with fresh legs. DOCTOR ROBERT (7) hit the line strongly over further and drops back slightly in trip expect him to be running on late again. Can cause a late scare if they pour it on early. SIR PANAMA (4) next best.
SELECTIONS: I'm Kenny to win again.
CANBERRA ACTON: RACE 7 @ 4:08 PM
OUR JEWEL (9) is another decent winning chance for the Joe Pride stable. She resumed in good order at Gosford before a plain run at Wyong on a heavy surface. Fitter again and McDougall is a positive jockey booking. Expect her to appreciate the poly and come hard. Stablemate CLOUD OF DUST (8) draws inside and will have benefited from the first-up outing at Wyong. Maps well and has also had early market support. IRISH JIG (3) is third-up and drops back to a sprint. He has the first time blinkers applied and should have the early speed to manage the wide barrier. A much improved effort is likely. SHOREMAN (7) is free running and best to forgive his Sapphire Coast effort last time (vet cleared). The shorter sprint suits better and fitter he may take catching at a price. Stablemate SNUBA (12) peaks and would be a chance if she found her best. May sit closer today with the first-time blinkers applied, and has upside.
SELECTIONS: Backing Our Jewel.
