Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 18th June 2025

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 18.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Canterbury, Sandown, Doomben,
Balaklava and Bunbury.

CANTERBURY: RACE 4 @ 11:35 PM

DYAMI (2) returned from a ten-month break with a gallant second last start over 1100m at Warwick Farm. Copped a little interference in the run home that day which may have been costly. Lightly raced gelding who will take a lot from that run and out to this trip can go one better. MARAIS (5) has been frustrating for connections, collecting nine minor placings in twelve appearances. Had a seven-week let-up before a last start fifth over 1100m at Warwick Farm. Strips fitter and this is a far more suitable journey. CINSAULT (8) was first-up for eleven months last start when she registered her sixth minor placing from as many runs, boxing on well for second over 1300m at the Farm. Draws a nice gate and gets her chance. MISS JONES (10) is another who will strip fitter today after a decent return at Warwick Farm recently and is not out of contention. WA WA WA (6) is next best at his first run back. Yet to miss the frame in three starts and a recent trial should have him ready to run well.
SELECTIONS: Dyami is ideally placed to break through.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 2 @ 12:25 PM

Keen to see KNOBELAS (7) again. She hit the line powerfully on debut over 1400m at Pakenham before being ridden closer out to a mile last time and more than justifying the $1.28 quote, bolting clear to win by four lengths. Drawn to be ridden positively again, she's exciting and should measure right up. COLOUR OUR WORLD (6) was disappointing as a heavily backed $1.60 favourite in a weaker race at Swan Hill last time but had been close up and very unlucky in a strong race at Caulfield prior. Can bounce right back now. ALL BUSINESS (5) is racing consistently, fourth in three consecutive runs against good opposition since a maiden win. May find some smart types again but is certainly an each-way chance again. LINCOLNSHIRE (4) can mix her form but was close up last time and has claims. CANARA (2) is struggling to win but has the ability to figure.
SELECTIONS: Knobelas to win.

DOOMBEN: RACE 1 @ 12:33 PM

The maiden stayers kick us off. The very well-related SO SUAVE (5) (full brother to 11xG1 winner Verry Elleegant) put in a career-best performance when a handy second at Kembla Grange last time out and strikes a winnable contest here. Drawn to get a gun run in transit for Mallyon from gate two and looks ready to shed the maiden tag now. Stablemate STATE OF AFFAIRS (6) is unlucky to still be a maiden going down by the narrowest of margins at the latest effort. Drops back slightly in trip here and should be hitting the line with gusto. PREFER TO DANCE (3) has hit the top-four in nine of ten career outings and is usually thereabouts. A must for the multiples. Former Victorian ORMOND ROAD (2) hasn't been too far away in all four runs since joining the new stable and may earn some minor money again. ZOUBLIME (8) best of the rest on the back of a last-start second at the Sunny Coast.
SELECTIONS: So Suave to break the maiden status.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 7 @ 3:05 PM

I TELL YA WHAT (2) comes out of stronger races and will enjoy the drop in class. His run at Morphettville two starts back is good enough to win this. Banking on him having a bit more upside than most of his rivals here. MATALIK (3) is a three-year-old that also has upside but he was only fair in his first run out of maiden grade last start. He needs to lift but he's open to improvement. CHARTIN (6) caught the eye first-up over 1400m and he is a previous winner second-up. He will take benefit from that and can easily figure in the finish here. Both TAMETOMO (7) and FIGHT FOR FREEDOM (12) come out of the same race as Chartin and their respective performances had merit.
SELECTIONS: Backing I Tell Ya What to win.

BUNBURY: RACE 8 @ 6:45 PM

AMERICAN ESCAPE (7) was only beaten 2.2L in Stakes grade before the spell and was quickly back on track, beaten a whisker at Northam second-up. Keeps the gun hoop and the inside barrier will advantage. She has more to offer and can go one better. MANHATTAN STRIP (5) won a CL5 at Northam first up and hasn't missed a beat. He's come off a trail win and has been freshened for this. He also draws low, and 2x winning rider Chris Parnham replaced Pike. He's good enough. HAMMARMILL (6) will give away a start but has pieces of form that stack up and will be finishing the race off. ANOTHER STRIKE (3) has been racing in stronger and is proven third-up. Has the blinkers on for the first time, and his best would give him a hope.
SELECTIONS: Backing American Escape.
