Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
The form is totally unconvincing here to the extent that we'll take a chance on one of the first-time starters. (9) CHAMPION SOCKS showed handy in his trial finishing in midfield in a fair time. With some natural improvement on that, the Shackleford gelding has as much chance as any. (1) FLYING GLOW debuted in August 2023 but then didn't appear again until two efforts last May and June with a best of 4th. He then got injured but he looked well when showing on pace in a May trial and can go well first up in this company. (8) P N S JU was an improved 3rd at start eighteen three weeks ago in similarly weak company and that is enough to give her a chance here. (5) BULGEUNTAEYANG and (10) P N S OHOH others to consider in a race that perhaps won't see the track record threatened.

(6) BIGBANG CLASS was front running 2nd on debut over this distance on May 9th. He should have come on for that run and from a good draw he can be on pace again and won't need to improve much to win this. (8) PLUTO has a 2nd a 3rd and a 4th from three starts so far and while that may make it seem it is trending the wrong way, he has shown progress in each of them. He will be on pace here and should be in this a long way. (11) JJAK SARANG has hovered around the placings across her four starts so far and she should be there or thereabouts again. Debut-maker (5) SOMETHING ELSE looked well when an on pace 2nd in her second trial and along with (4) DIA KNIGHT, is another to consider.

It's hard to go past (1) WILD WHIZ. He ran once for 3rd last summer and then wasn't seen again until this May 19th when he led from gate to wire over this distance. He comes up in class but should strip fitter for that run and down in weight and drawn well, he can go all the way again. The main dangers are both up in class after last start maiden wins too. (8) SAMJEONG LADY raced on pace for a comfortable win at 1200M back in February. She comes in fresh and can measure up. (7) CHOEGANG SPEED didn't do much in his first two outings but came from off the pace to score at start three over 1200M on May 3rd. The slight step up in trip can suit and he can be challenging late. (2) CUPID HEART and (9) SEMYEONG STRONG are the other main placing chances.

(5) MISSOURI CHAMP got her maiden win in March and has since run 3rd and 4th in two starts at this level at 1200M and most recently at 1300M on May 9th She came from off the pace in both of those, but in this company, she can be ridden further forward, and she can win. (7) BROWN ROOKIE has finished 4th in each of her latest three outings, including behind Missouri Champ two starts back. She has been running on well and the slight step up in trip can suit. (2) RAINBOW ROAD mixes her form but her latest two have been good, especially a 2nd place at this class over 1400M on May 2nd. From a good draw, she should be on pace and can be in this a long way. (8) TRIPLE J and (10) GEUMA REJOICE are other place chances.

Fillies and mares only here. (10) SMART TAKE returned from five months out to get her maiden win over this distance at the end of March before running 3rd over the same trip on her first try at this class on May 4th. She has a smart finish on her so the widest gate is no problem and third up this preparation, she can be peaking fitness-wise. (2) RAON THE KEISHA has two 2nd places and a 3rd in three goes at this class since her maiden win last November and hasn't missed the top three since her debut. She draws nicely to sit handy, and she shapes as the main danger. (1) I AM GO has been similarly consistent and will have plenty of backers with Seo Seung-un climbing on for the first time. (4) LUCKY DAY and (11) ANYANG TSUNAMI others in line for the minors.

(1) HOLY RUN was a winner at this class and distance on May 16th, settling midfield and then running on. That was his maiden victory, and he is up 2.5kg in weight, but he draws well, and in this company, he can win again. (6) SEOBU CAPTAIN comes in fresh having had fifteen weeks since his lates, somewhat ordinary, appearance. He looked very well when winning a trial in May, and if he brings that form to the races, should be a factor. (3) POWER WAGON was 5th behind HOLY RUN in that May 16th race. She is third up this preparation so can be peaking fitness-wise and be closer here. (2) SEUNGNI GITBAL and (11) ROSE DRAGON are others in the frame.

(11) GOOGOO has shown some aptitude for two turns with a 3rd and a 2nd from her two tries at it, most recently on May 3rd. She's been in great form since her maiden win in March and while she has the challenge of the widest gate, she can win here. (4) WORLD JOY got his maiden win three starts back and has since run 3rd at both 1800M and last time out, at this distance on May 11th when settling midfield and running on. Expect similar tactics here and he can be a big danger. (9) WITH DIS KURO led all the way to score in a maiden over this trip at the end of December. He didn't race again until April 5th when 3rd, again with a front-running performance over 1700M. He comes back after a further nine weeks off and can be in the mix again. (2) SUPER BLUEMOON and (6) HIGH CROWN are others to consider on a place line.

(6) GEUMA PANTHER got his maiden win at start three over 1400M on May 11th, settling handy and proving too strong. He comes up in class and up to the mile for the first time but is down in weight, and he can win again. (8) TOHAMSAN TAEYANG comes out of the Korean Oaks where she ran 7th of ten. She is still a maiden, but she does have a 4th place at this class and under a light weight and dropping down to a mile, she can be a danger. (2) CHAMP SONNY was a winner over 1400M on May 4th settling midfield and running on. He also has a 3rd at this distance to his name and from a good draw shouldn't be far away. (9) BEOLGYO SARANG and (3) PINOT POWER others in the hunt.

(5) GWANAKSAN O TWO got her maiden win at 1400M in January, leading all the way before running 3rd in a filly race in February. She hasn't raced since and she hasn't trialed either so she has to be taken on trust somewhat, but on ability she looks the best of these and can be on pace and win. Moon Se-young riding the solitary debut-maker will always be noted and (9) SMILE DAY looked well when winning a trial on May 15th (it was a voluntary trial so be aware it may not show up in all racecards) and has every chance of going well first-up. Veteran (3) AMAZON KING enters off a close class and distance 2nd on February 25th and while up in weight can be close again. (7) SMILING PRINCE and (10) HANAM ELDORADO others who can challenge for the minors.

None come in having finished any better than 6th on their respective latest starts. (3) BARBELL TROFEO used up a bit too much energy when on pace over 1800M last time out, ultimately weakening to finish down the field. She comes back to a trip at which she was 3rd in April and from a good draw can get an easier run today. (9) BLACK TREE could only manage 8th last time out over 1300M but the margins were not especially large. She steps up to this trip for the first time and it can suit. (5) COLONEL FLYING always settles back and last time out just didn't run on. If we go on his 3rd place two outings back at this distance, he can be given another chance. (8) RIVERSTONE and (10) SMART SMILE the others who look most likely to bounce back.

(1) THEME TANSAENG won at this class over 1700M two starts back and has since been 3rd in two more appearances, both at 1800M and both teams leading until the closing stages. Previous attempts at a mile haven't worked out but he is ready for another crack and from the inside gate, he can be ridden straight to the lead. (4) TAEKHAN enters with recent form reading fairly, most recently a close 5th at this class over 1400M. He carries his fair share of weight here, but he has a 2nd place to his name over this distance, and he can be in the finish. (7) YEONHUI HERO is up in class having registered his maiden win at start six on April 5th over 1300M, leading all the way. It had been coming, and he can measure up at this class and distance. (2) TINA K and (6) BEOLGYO GRAMMY are the other place chances.

(8) IT'S OK ran once last year for 4th but since returning nine months later, has put together two smart victories over this distance, leading all the way both times. That brings her rapidly up in class, but she carries a light weight and there could be more to come. The danger is (4) SPEED TOP. An all the way winner on debut last November, he has come from further back to run 2nd in each of his three subsequent class 5 starts. That brings him up in class here but down significantly in weight, he can be a threat. (6) TROPHY WARE is a three-time winner at this distance and while his recent form has only been fair, he looks nicely in here and can challenge late. (7) TROUBLEMAKER and (9) SANGIM BOLT other minor money chances.

The final leg of the Triple Tiara and the winner of the first two legs (7) FANTASTIC VALUE will be a hot favourite to complete the sweep. She was vastly superior to the rest in both the Luna Stakes and the Korean Oaks and should be again here. Few fillies here are capable of being competitive at 2000M at this stage of their careers but (5) ONEULDO SMILE looks like she should be. She won her first four before running 2nd in the Derby having led for most of the way. She can lead again here but resisting Fantastic Value may be harder. (2) BORYEONGLIGHTQUEEN emerged to run 3rd in the Oaks, matching her finish in the Luna and she can be in the mix again. (8) ROCK CANDY skipped the first two legs, but her racing style suggests the extended trip can suit and she may offer some each-way appeal. (3) LIME TREE another place chance.

(5) HANEUL MANJEOM has won his latest two, both at this distance and both times leading all the way. That brings him up in class, but he is down 3kg in weight, draws nicely to lead again, and he can complete his hat-trick. (9) BIG MUSICAL STAR had a hard time in a big trophy race at a mile in April when showing on pace in a race that was run very quickly (track record) and then weakening. He has had eight weeks off and this should be a more suitable assignment. (6) POSTMAN ins up in class having delivered at this distance on April 27th. He is down in weight and could have a bit more in his satchel here. (10) HAENAM HAMMER and (1) BLACK FALCON are others in the hunt.

(3) REAL DEAL was a winner at this class over 1200M two starts back before running 2nd in a very quick race over 1400M on May 4th with a couple of today's rivals behind him. He comes up to the mile for the first time but there is no reason that it can't suit, and he is the one to beat. (7) BROWN GOLD is one for one at a mile having scored on his first try at it on May 10th when on pace throughout He comes up in class but can be in the mix again. (1) STORM BREAKER comes back in trip following recent spins over 1800M and having placed at this class has every chance to do so again from the inside gate. (6) GEUMBIT CHEONHA and (9) A. P. PATEK others in line for the minors.

(4) TAEWANG SINGI has won his latest two, most recently scoring in a very quick race at this class and distance on May 2nd, leading all the way and with plenty of today's rivals behind him. He comes up 3kg in weight, but he draws well and if he can get to the front again, he can complete his hat-trick. (2) BIWOL was 2nd that day, continuing a positive run of form. He too is up in weight but shapes as the main danger and with a much better draw can be close. (3) PERFECT ACTION had a hard time in the Ttukseom Cup at Seoul last month but was a winner at this class over 1400M two starts back and this is a more suitable assignment. (1) BAEKDUUUI KKUM similarly was sent to the Ttukseom Cup for what was her first start since last August. It went just about as expected but today should be better. (10) BEOLMAUI ANGEL another in the frame.

Could it finally be a return to the winner's circle for (5) UMAPOY? He has been getting closer across his latest few outings, most recently beating a couple of these when 3rd at class and distance on May 3rd. CC Wong rode him for the first time that day and stays on here and while he carries an additional 2kg, today can be the day. (7) YEONGWON BIG MAN has won his latest two at 1200M and 1400M. That brings him up in class as well as in distance and while he doesn't get much of a weight break, he can be competitive. (6) TAEPYEONG HERO was 4th behind Umapoy in that May 3rd race, coming from well off the pace. That was his first run since last September and he should strip fitter for it. (4) COLGIN and (1) GOLD MUNGCHI are others to consider on a place line.
