The early summer Mile championship run at Tokyo was a good edition of the famous race.

Jantar Mantar who has a proven record in Mile races was in a good position in the run and once past the 400m mark rounding the turn Kawada gave him some rein and he ran strongly up the hill and at the 100m mark went on to establish a winning lead in Yasuda Kinen.  Gaia Force on 32.2 ran a very strong challenge to finish second ahead of favourite Soul Rush who had to settle for third.

While the race didn't have the excitement of last year with the win by Romantic Warrior it was nevertheless a very solid performance from the winner.
