Star shuttle stallion chosen as 2025 partner for Winx.
Too Darn Hot's rise as one of the world's top stallions has been meteoric and the Darley shuttler gained another accolade when selected as this season's partner for legendary mare Winx.
The 25-time Group 1 winner's ownership group confirmed early this week that the four-time Cox Plate heroine would be part of the Australian book for the son of Dubawi, who is the sire of four-time Group 1 winner Broadsiding.
"We are thrilled to announce Too Darn Hot as the stallion of choice for Winx this season," Winx's part-owner Peter Tighe said in a statement.
"His pedigree, performance and the early success of his progeny align with our long-term vision for Winx's breeding legacy.
"We believe this pairing has the potential to produce something very special.'"
Too Darn Hot, winner of the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at two and a further three Group 1 races at three, returns to Darley's Hunter Valley base this year after remaining in England in 2024.
His 2025 Australian fee has been set at $275,000, including GST, having stood his first four Southern Hemisphere seasons at $44,000.
In addition to Broadsiding, Too Darn Hot's Australian progeny include Group 2 winners Rivellino, Shanwah and Too Darn Discreet.
In the Northern Hemisphere, he has produced Group 1 winners Fallen Angel and Hotazhell.
The nine-year-old will be the fourth individual stallion for Winx, whose filly by Pierro sold for a world record filly price of $10 million in 2024.
That filly, who has been named Quinceanera and is in the care of Winx's former trainer Chris Waller, was Winx's first live foal after the I Am Invincible foal conceived in her first season at stud was born deceased.
She missed to Snitzel in 2022 but returned to that son of Redoute's Choice the following year and delivered a colt in November last year.
