RANDWICK May 30

Randwick A Grass; Heavy 8

14 Heats – 2 x 1200m (2 Open); 6 x 1045m (3 Open; 2 2YO; 1 Maiden); 6 x 740m (1 Open; 4 2YO; 1 3YO)

Strong trials from some talented performers preparing for their winter campaigns.

NEED SOME LUCK (Peter Snowden): Super consistent 4YO showed he has freshened nicely since his trip to the Gold Coast in early May with an impressive win his 1045m heat (64.40; 35.68). He was allowed to find his rhythm in the first 400m before starting to loop the field from the 500m and surged to the line over the last 100m for a soft win with plenty in reserve. GETAFIX went with him over the last 200m and also put in good work through the line.

ROSELYN'S STAR (John O'Shea/Tom Charlton): Keen to see this 3YO by Shalaa return to racing after 14 months off the scene. He recorded a win and two placings from his first three starts as a 2YO and his effort to win his return trial in the open heat over 740m (44.18; 33.72) was indicative of his potential. Worked well within himself to run past the leader and win unextended.

SHADIZI (Chris Waller): This will be an import to follow through next season as he could be a high class performer. He's a stakeswinner of four of his eight starts in France up to 1600m and is ready to make his Australian debut after two easy trials. Had plenty to offer in a strong 1045m heat won by ESTADIO MESTALLA (65.16; 35.22), being kept under a hold from start to finish but really taking the eye with the way he made late ground between horses.

THE INSTRUCTOR (Waterhouse/Bott): Fast black type sprinter has won three of his last four starts and showed he is holding his form well with a runaway win in the fastest 1045m heat (63.10; 34.29), having too much speed for his rivals to score by almost five lengths. He'll be well placed in any sprint up to 1200m in his current form.

ROSEHILL May 29

Inside Grass; Heavy 8

14 Heats – 5 x 1030m (2 Open; 2 Maiden; 1 2/3YO); 9 x 900m (2 Open; 5 2YO; 2 Maiden)

Some promising trials despite the heavy conditions.

COLD BREW (Richard & Will Freedman): This Pierro gelding looks primed for a maiden win after winning the fastest of the five heats over 1030m (62.59; 35.49) under a choke hold. He's been placed in three of his four starts and could have won this heat by a wide margin if his rider had let him stride at any stage.

COSMIC EAGLE (Gerald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou): Deep Field filly handled the conditions confidently for a soft win in her 900m heat (55.18; 35.39). She's now had four trials and is well educated for her debut.

MAYWEATHER (Peter Snowden): Stylish Lonhro youngster has been given time since his first start in November and should be ready when he resumes after a strong win in the 1030m heat for the 2YOs (63.36; 35.40). Travelled strongly in the lead under a good hold with his rider intent on giving him an easy trial.

Other heat winners worth noting included ANG POW, WORLD ALLIANCE, GAMBLER and ALBANY ROAD. Those taking the eye with quiet trials included AGITA, HOW MUCH BETTER, PEREILLE; DIDDLE DUMPLING, LA BASILIQUE and CENTRAL COAST.
