TRIAL POINTERS
WARWICK FARM April 17: PASSEGGIATA is flying. She led her 822m heat easily and was simply too quick for them over this short course to cruise home by more than five lengths in fast time (47.75l 33.16) to back up her similar trial win at Rosehill on April 4. The stable only has to find the right sprint for her. In an open heat over 1200m (72.57; 35.16) the late work of WEST OF AFRICA was a good pointer to his prospects. Should be well placed in coming provincial and country features.
NEWCASTLE April 16: The standout in the open heats was the well performed mare POWERFUL PEG, trucking strongly through her 1000m trial (61.04; 33.25) and winning by a comfortable margin with plenty in reserve.
RANDWICK April 14: Stylish Pierro filly LISTEN SWEETHEART won a sharp 2YO heat over 1050m (63.94; 34.80). It's form worth following as she responded well for a confident win after she was attacked for the lead for the first 600m. The fastest 1050m heat (62.51; 34.36) saw a good trial from previously noted HELL TO PAY. The race fit SEASCAPE, a last start Kensington winner, showed she has trained on we'll with a strong win in her 740m heat (42.96; 32.95). She can be followed with confidence.
ROSEHILL April 4: Fast mare PASSEGGIATA, freshened since she last raced in January, was back on her game showing her natural pace to lead her strong 900m heat by a good margin and sustain her speed to the line to score by four lengths in the fastest time of the session (54.67; 34.28). We know she has limitations but a suitable short course sprint against her own sex will suit.
