Best Bets for Hyperion Stakes Day at Pinjarra.

With some issues remaining with the Belmont surface, Saturday racing again heads to the Scarpside circuit at Pinjarra with the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes the feature event.

The course is currently rated a Soft 7 as of Thursday morning after wild weather through the early part of the week in the Perth metropolitan area, however the track should improve with fine weather forecast through to raceday.

There's plenty of different betting angles to take heading into the Hyperion, with the main formlines coming through the Belmont Sprint 10 days ago.

Magnificent Andy was only claimed at the post that day and ran to 114 on the RAS scale, the same rating he ran to win the Hyperion 12 months ago.

While that formline looks the key, and Magnificent Andy is the only placegetter to come through to the Hyperion, there's cases to be made for a few behind him.

Yonga Lass is flying this time in work and was just over a length off Andy in the Belmont Sprint. While this looks to shape similarly to last start, stepping up to the mile now should suit Yonga Lass better and the gap might be smaller come Saturday afternoon. Perth Cup winner Hemlock Stone flew home late in an eye-catching return, 2024 WA Derby winner A Lot Of Good Men was sound on resumption from a long spell and should be better now and Bustler had some market support first-up from a break.

One who missed the Belmont Sprint is Western Empire, coming into the Hyperion straight off a run in The Quokka. He wasn't sharp enough for them there and the stable opted not to run him in the rescheduled race last Wednesday. He comes into this off a 42-day break and was beaten by Magnificent Andy 12 months ago after a barnstorming win in the Belmont Sprint. While the Scarpside circuit at Pinjarra should suit his racing pattern and we all know the class he possesses, there's enough niggles to make punters think twice about him on Saturday.

Over to the Best Bets on the program now and while the track is expected to improve, being in the Soft range will suit WUBIN GOLD in race five.

The four-year-old clocked some slick sectionals first-up (as she is known to do) when well back in this grade at this track and trip. While the wide draw will see her well back in the run again, there looks to be good speed engaged and she's unbeaten both third-up, and when racing on a rain affected track.

Objectify comes up as the main danger in the market but did pull up with an issue following her first-up effort 63-days ago. She hasn't been sighted publicly since which is a little niggle and there's enough there to be against her on Saturday as she lines up in stronger company.

Wubin Gold is well clear on RAS ratings and if she can run up to what the sectionals suggested first-up, she can mow her rivals down in the straight.

We'll head to the following event for the Next Best on the program with FOREVER BOY ready to strike third-up into the campaign.

He was off a 420-day break before the Grantham stable turned him out just 7 days later, where he was beaten 0.8 lengths as the race favourite. The last-start performance suggested he was trending back to his prior form which showed he was a progressive stayer coming through the grades.

Sticking at the mile third-up doesn't appear an issue and he maps for a beautiful run under CJP who remains in the saddle.

He rates highly on the last-start performance, the sectionals say he was finishing strongly and with plenty of improvement still up his sleeve, it makes him an attractive commodity on Saturday.
