Best Bets for racing at Pinjarra this weekend.
Due to some issues with the surface at Belmont, the Saturday meeting this week shifts onto the Scarpside track at Pinjarra.
Tricky conditions are in store for the WA Day long weekend, with a possible 25mm of rain forecast on Friday and a further 9mm in store for Saturday, it'll could be tough early on until we see how the track is going.
With no feature event on the card, let's just jump straight into the best bets on the card.
I'm surprised to see CELESTIAL STORM in race six hasn't opened favourite in what appears a two-horse race on the Racing and Sports ratings.
She bet a handy field first-up at Ascot, beating home the likes of Wind And The Lion and Toropa, strong horses in their own right and the form may have been franked through the former earlier in the card.
Whilst she hasn't raced down the Pinjarra straight, she was a winner down the Flemington straight prior to landing in Luke Fernie's barn.
The wide draw for the straight at Pinjarra is a key to her chances and she's likely to be right there next to her main danger in Richanco, who opened the favourite.
Both have speed, have drawn the correct side, and it would be silly to not expect Richanco to go to another level now third-up into the campaign.
However, the same could be said for Celestial Storm second-up into the campaign where she was narrowly beaten second-up last campaign and she ran to that level fresh.
Thinking Pike will stalk Richanco and get over the top of him to bring up back-to-back wins.
In the last event of the day, CAMERA ACTION looks to have some juice in her early price.
A dominant winner in the Provincial Championship Final, she settled back in the run and mowed down her rivals and pulled away to score comfortably at the line.
While I don't think expect CJP to change her pattern completely, it wouldn't surprise to see her sit a touch closer from barrier four and she comes in with the highest last-start rating.
Horses like Dun With The Blues and Dug Another Hole will put up a strong test, but Camera Action looks to be on a strong upward trend and if she continues on that path, she can bring up her third win in 4 starts.
