International jockeys shine at Champ de Mars as anticipation builds for the 2025 season.
Mauritian racegoers discovered the talents of French jockey Ryan Curatolo for the first time during our mock race day today, as he was engaged by Selvom Mootien Stable after being given the green light from the Gambling Regulatory Authority.
Ryan Curatolo has ridden throughout the world, namely in his home country, United States, Japan, Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, Malaysia and Australia, tasting success in many Group 1 races, including the Macau Gold Cup, Qatar Derby and Oi Kinen.
Ryan Curatolo hopped on board Royal Sovereign (Race 1), Amandla (Race 2) and Times New Roman (Race 4) during our mock race meeting.
Also in the saddle today was Chile's Roberto Perez, engaged by Samraj Mahadia Stable. This tandem won the first two mock races – Cartel Boss and Transonic. This is his second stint in Mauritius, as he previously rode for Shirish Narang in 2023, riding 28 winners from 69 rides.
France's Cédric Ségeon has been engaged by Vicky Ruhee Stable. Champion jockey in 2014, he has also won four classic races – Royal Chalon (Duchess 2011), Silver Bluff (Duchess 2015), Baritone (Duchess 2018) and Alshibaa (Maiden 2020).
Manoel Nunes (Gujadhur Stable) and Donavan Mansour (Paul Foo-Kune Stable) were in action today. The latter won on board Xavion in the third mock race.
