MTCJC Opens Its Doors to the Public This Saturday for the Dry Run.
The MTCJC is pleased to announce that the public will once again be able to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Champ de Mars this Saturday, on the occasion of the dry run — a key prelude to the official reopening of the 2025 horse racing season.
Racegoers will have the opportunity to discover the newly renovated grandstands at the Champ de Mars, including upgraded restaurants and a brand-new family area featuring a welcoming food court.
Entry is free of charge, but access to the grandstand is strictly limited to 1,000 people. Tickets will be available from 11:00 a.m. at the main entrance of the Mauritius Turf Club on a 'first come, first served' basis.
To clarify and avoid any confusion, the public will be allowed to move within the grandstand area, in front of the official stands, in the family area, and on the terraces opposite the paddock.
Parking will be regulated on Shakespeare Street and in the members' car park behind the Ruhee stables, with limited spaces available.
To ensure everything runs smoothly, we kindly request the cooperation and understanding of all racegoers. Please follow the guidance of the on-site staff, who will be available to assist throughout the event.
The afternoon will feature four mock races, interspersed with paddock appearances by newly imported horses, helping them acclimatise to local conditions:
- 12:30 – Start of the 1st mock race
- 12:40 – Presentation of new horses in the paddock
- 13:05 – Start of the 2nd mock race
- 13:15 – Presentation of new horses in the paddock
- 13:40 – Start of the 3rd mock race
- 13:50 – Presentation of new horses in the paddock
- 14:15 – Start of the 4th and final mock race
The day is expected to conclude around 3:00 p.m.
The MTCJC is counting on the full cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure this full-scale rehearsal runs under the best possible conditions ahead of the official start of the racing season on Saturday, 2nd August 2025.
