We head to the Heath on the brink of Winter for a competitive card.
Looks an open card and I'm keen to play a few at bigger odds across the card.
One of those will be a horse I was keen on when scratched the other week, Just For Show who goes around in Race 3.
The first up effort rated very well in a similar grade of race, running to 100 on the RAS scale backed up by a very strong time figure, conceding weight against fitter horses, only run down late with a good gap to third.
That was a new peak rating for Just For Show and the rise to 1200m is perfect, drawing for every chance in the run as well.
He's got a handy field to beat including Big Swinger who was heavily backed to win a (very weak) Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint when last seen. The win prior at Pakenham was very good, with the sectionals hinting he could run up to 108, which is very similar to the adjusted time figure Just For Show ran first up.
Brave One is also very scary off a horror show first up at Canterbury when shuffled back at a key point as favourite but Just For Show looks value at the double figure quote.
At even bigger odds one race earlier is Happy Link who is coming off a big 0 at Moonee Valley, beaten nearly 13 lengths.
It was one of those runs that was so bad you can just wipe it given she was eased down, Jye Mcneil saying she simply didn't handle a tired and slow Moonee Valley track.
She was $4.20 there off a solid return when racing keenly in front and drawn well here, she maps for every chance and with a profile to really bounce back in a better scenario.
The Melbourne Mail
Bet of the day: Race 3 #3 Just For Show at $10
Each-way play: Race 2 #11 Happy Link at $16/4.40
