Sam King’s sole selection at Newcastle found the winners’ enclosure last night and he’s back with two wagers on Wednesday…

Harry Did's sole outing over six furlongs at Kempton was a promising effort last April and he looks interesting back at that venue this evening (6.30).

Harry Eustaces' four-year-old looked like he was going to kick on with his career after landing a six-furlong maiden at Leicester last season, but he struggled when seemingly well-fancied (sent off 11/4 and 4/1) for two all-weather handicaps before Christmas.

He bounced back with a promising effort when third over the same trip at Southwell late last month and could be ready to build on that outing now down in class. This evening's contest will provide a first chance for Harry Did in Class 5 handicap company and that could be just what's required to see him get back to winning ways.

The likes of Big R and Grenham Bay bring solid course and distance form to the table, but both lack the scope for improvement that Harry Eustaces' gelding possesses. Being drawn seven of ten shouldn't pose a major issue for talented apprentice Kaiya Fraser, who claims a valuable 3lb, and assuming he gets a clearer run than when an eye-catching third last time out, he could have enough in the tank to defy a current rating of 74.

WIN – Harry Did

Odds – 3/1

Course specialist Tom Creen is taken to extend his record of five victories at Sedgefield in the 2m Vickers.Bet Handicap Chase (14:35) on Wednesday.

Sam England's charge was impressive in making all when last seen winning here on Boxing Day, registering a career-high speed figure of 70 (ATR) which might suggest improvement still to come. Assessing the sectional times posted on that occasion would imply that the drop back in trip to two miles ought to pose no problems given his high cruising speed throughout. With the lack of an obvious pace angle in the race, it would be unsurprising to see similarly positive tactics employed again to good effect.

Yard form at Sedgefield is worth noting, as Sam England boasts a credible 18% strike rate when sending runners to the County Durham course. Useful claimer Tom Midgley takes off 3lb, who holds a solid record when partnering England's runners to return a 15%-win rate.

While the selection vies for favouritism with Master Breffni at the top of the market, I find him easy to oppose given the relative weakness of the form of the race at Catterick in which he placed runner-up last time out. With this in mind, Tom Creen could represent some value at a current price of 2/1 generally available.

WIN – Tom Creen

Odds – 2/1
