Ben Thompson, son of champion greyhound trainer Jason Thompson, began his career in 2014 after first getting on a horse at the age of 15 in 2012.
Ben Thompson was first apprenticed to Mick Kent at Cranbourne before joining the Allen Williams stable and in his first full season of riding notched up over 50 winners throughout Victoria and NSW.
A natural lightweight, Thompson is a highly regarded young jockey who’s first black type success came aboard First Course in the 2016 Sale Cup, going on to ride in the Melbourne Cup the same year.
