Heavy surface plays right into the hands of filly on debut.
Purchases from regular online sales continue to reap rewards and John Sargent had the feeling he was on a winner when he picked up Change My Address.
Passed in when failing to make the $30,000 reserve in the ring at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2024, Sargent's memory of this one filly among the hundreds he inspected during that January period has paid dividends nearly 18 months later.
Change My Address ($2.70 favourite), a daughter of Exceedance, took out the Traffic Warden @ Darley Handicap (1100m) at Warwick Farm on a heavily rain affected track which was just the conditions that Sargent needed for his juvenile filly to scoop the $100,000 maiden.
"I saw her in the parades about a month before the sales and she stood out," Sargent said.
"After she was passed in, I went online and bought her so it is a great result.
"I think the sire and the dam (Liberata) both liked it wet and that ground out there is perfect for her so we might carry on for another run or two and then a break."
Thinking that Change My Address could be suited up to 1400-metres, springtime aims are in his sights.
Change My Address win by 1¼-lengths over the Chris Waller-trained stablemates The Pearls ($5.50) and Sequel ($12) in third.
