Interesting to see how runners wintered.
The Earl of Sefton went well for us with Persica getting the result by 2 ½ lengths from Ottoman Fleet.
The Nell Gwyn was a different kettle of fish (or oats) as the Gosdens Zanzoun at 9/1 finished very well under Shoemark and since she hasn't an entry for the English Guineas she will head to France for their Guineas. Celestial Orbit is on a learning curve and once she learns to run straight will be collecting some big prizes. She ran second and was also on 9/1. Remaat was third at 20/1 and had kept on well to grab that spot.
Wednesday sees the running of the G3 Abernant Stakes over 1200m and has an interesting French raider here in Andre Fabre's Sajir with Murphy booked for the ride. She's already won a race at Chantilly this season and is on 4/1. Godolphin's Romantic Style is a c&d winner and picked up a couple of races while wintering in Dubai and is on evens which could be a bit skinny, Lethal Levi could be the roughie here as the Ayr Gold Cup winner comes in to this on 9/1.
The Craven Stakes G3 over 1600m is quite open with Godolphin's Opera Ballo and Wimbledon Hawkeye on 11/4. The latter was good to us a couple of times last year so we shall see if that tradition continues. The Watcher is on 33/1 which seems quite generous for a horse who has two wins so far this year – certainly on the All Weather but he's with Karl Burke and could be a go.
