Ka Ying Rising not only won he broke his record for the race.

Pushed out by Purton from his wide gate he settled close to the front and then took over the lead and that was in – the question was by how much would he win and the answer was 3.5 lengths but that was easing down.  The next question is where to now?  Helios Express finished second and Howdeepisyourlove third paying more for the place than the winner did for the win.

And the Stewards' Cup saw Voyage Bubble defend his title and win this 1600m G1 for the second year running.  Galaxy Patch was 2 lengths away in second and Red Lion did nicely to take third.

Sad news throigh the week that Designs on Rome had passed away at Living Legends in Victoria.  He developed an inoperable colic but at Living Legends he did have a lovely place in which to spend his final days.
