Lake Victoria will take on 11 rivals as she bids to get back to winning ways in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday.
Following a sparkling two-year-old campaign, which included Group 1 victories in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, the Cheveley Park at Newmarket and in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar, Lake Victoria relinquished her unbeaten record when sixth behind Charlie Appleby's Desert Flower in the 1000 Guineas on the Rowley Mile.
With that run under her belt, she is a general 5/4 chance to give Aidan O'Brien a record-extending 11th success in the contest and a first since Empress Josephine in 2021.
Few know Lake Victoria better than her regular rider Ryan Moore, who will be in the saddle once more.
Speaking on his World Pool blog, Moore said: "That run should bring her on, and she'll be much fitter this time. I certainly haven't lost any faith in her, and I expect her to show her true colours on Sunday.
"It's a high-quality race, with the second and third from the 1,000 Guineas lining up again, as well as three more unbeaten fillies, so it's competitive."
Joining the daughter of Frankel from Aidan O'Brien's stable will be January, while Dermot Weld is gearing up to saddle Juddmonte's unbeaten Swelter, who took her record to two from two with a smooth victory in the Priory Belle Stakes at Leopardstown in March.
Donnacha O'Brien's supplemented Atsila made it two wins from as many starts with a nice victory in the Athasi Stakes, while the British challenge will be led by the Ollie Sangster-trained duo Flight and Simmering, who reoppose Lake Victoria having finished second and third in the English equivalent at Newmarket. They will be joined by the Archie Watson-trained Duty First after her ninth-place finish in the same contest.
The Adrian Murray duo California Dreamer and Jaliyah also take their chance, while Cercene and Tamam Desert round out the field of twelve.
