Los Angeles looks set to take on White Birch once more as both horses featured on the twelve-strong confirmation list for the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Irish Derby hero Los Angeles came home a neck in front when the pair met in the Group 2 Mooresbridge Stakes earlier in the month, although connections of John Murphy's White Birch will certainly be hopeful that he can retain his crown having downed the dual Derby winner Auguste Rodin in the same contest twelve months ago.

Speaking on Racing TV, Aidan O'Brien said: "It's the plan to run Los Angeles,"

"Everything has gone well since his last run at the Curragh, and it was always the plan to come back for this.

"Everything has been good so far with him."

Twelve horses stood their ground for the ten-and-a-half-furlong Group 1, with the Andrew Balding-trained Kalpana, who missed her intended reappearance at York due to a dirty scope earlier in the week, in line to make her reappearance in the colours of Juddmonte.

Juddmonte and Coolmore might not be the only two leading owners doing battle in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, with the Shadwell-owned Anmaat, who was last seen running out a shock 40/1 winner of the Qipco Champion Stakes in October, also set to make his return to action.

Joseph O'Brien's proven Group 1 winner Al Riffa could also take his chance, while Ed Walker's talented four-year-old Almaqam and the Karl Burke-trained Royal Rhyme are others that featured on the twelve-strong confirmation sheet.
