Unibet introduced Wise Approach as their 5/1 second favourite for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot following his impressive debut success at the Berkshire venue on Wednesday.
Trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, Wise Approach was sent off the 16/5 market leader for the Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial EBF Conditions Stakes, which featured a trio of first time out winners.
A half-brother to the top-class multiple Group 1 winner Perfect Power – who cost 1,000,000gns as a yearling – Wise Approach showed signs of greenness passing halfway before moving into contention smoothly under William Buick, who had to wait for the gaps to open in front of him at the two marker.
Once the gaps appeared, he picked up in good style, striking the front inside the final 50 yards before showing a willing attitude to see off the Karl Burke-trained Leicester scorer Super Soldier by half a length, with Siren Suit back in third.
"Perfect," said Buick. "He's a horse that you'd expect to improve but I was very happy with him.
"It rode like a good two-year-old race. Whether he has another run before Ascot, we'll see or whether he'll go five again and then six at Ascot.
"Everyone will be very happy with what he did today."
On whether it would be beneficial to have another run before Royal Ascot, Buick added: "I think so, a very good horse can get away with of course, but Royal Ascot is a big occasion with a lot of people and a lot of noise."
