Panama Black is a potential improver now upped in trip in the one-mile one-and-a-half-furlong Class 5 handicap at Wolverhampton (6.00) this evening.

Brian Meehan's charge clearly bumped into one when runner-up over seven furlongs at the same venue thirteen days ago and I wouldn't be surprised to see the winner follow up. Panama Black did well to fill the runner-up spot on that occasion given he raced keenly and was stuck wide throughout, so it's likely that performance can be upgraded.

He stuck on well in the closing stages without threatening the winner that day, shaping as though there could be more to come when stepping up in distance. An unchanged mark of 70 should be workable and having been ridden prominently when third at Kempton on his handicap debut in Kempton, in-form jockey Sean Levey may take a more positive approach this evening from stall one.

1pt WIN – Panama Black

Ods – 11/4
