Sam King is back with a selection from Wolverhampton on Monday evening…
Not much takes the eye in the National Hunt sphere on Monday afternoon, but there is one strong-looking wager to be had at Wolverhampton this evening.
Khutulun would have gone into plenty of notebooks after finishing sixth on her return from a break over a mile at Chelmsford last month and is surely worth backing in the seven-furlong Class 6 handicap at 5.30
James Ferguson's filly showed plenty of natural early speed to work her way to the front of the field from a wide starting berth, but she perhaps paid for doing too much too soon in the closing stages and faded late on.
That said, it was a reappearance effort that was full of promise and one that suggested she could have plenty more to offer back over seven furlongs with that run under her belt.
She finished a good runner-up to an unexposed handicap debutante (since been raised 10lb) over course and distance off this mark in October and looks well-poised to strike from stall six with Sean Dylan Bowen in the saddle for the first time.
WIN – Khutulun
Odds – 15/8
