Sam King’s Horse Racing Tips Today from Windsor, Hexham, and Kempton

Sam King landed 11/4 (SP) and 5/4 (SP) winners at Plumpton yesterday and he's back with four selections on a busy Monday racing across both codes…

Our first selection comes from Windsor in what looks like an interesting eight-race card. Although short in the betting, it's easy to see why Sunset Point is an odds-on poke in the Follow @AtTheRaces On Twitter Fillies' Handicap (3.10). The Charlie Appleby-trained daughter of Dubawi shaped as though she'd appreciate the step up to 1m2f when shedding her maiden at Lingfield in November. An opening mark of 76 for this handicap debut may well underestimate her and she can follow up for a yard that has an excellent strike-rate at this venue (9-19, 47%).

Selection: Sunset Point – General 5/6

The second selection from the Berkshire venue should offer punters a little more value. Jim Boyle's three-year-old Chinthurst hasn't been seen since making a pleasing handicap debut when runner-up at Brighton in October but should have plenty more to offer this season. The form of that Brighton race may be questionable but it's the step up to a mile that can prove key. The son of Nathaniel has plenty of stamina in the pedigree and is likely to be seen to better effect this time around.

Selection: Chinthurst – General 6/1

It's always worth noting when trainer John McConnell sends one to Hexham given, he has a healthy 50% strike-rate (5-10) at the track. There's no question today's bumper represents a stiffer task than when Chance The Robin won over course and distance last outing, but he was value for more than the one-and-three-quarter-length winning margin. Brian Hayes (who rides today) set steady fractions out in front and may look to dictate matters once more. The form of his second at Ayr back in January reads well with the winner following up and since finishing a good sixth in the Grade 2 National Hunt Flat Race at Aintree. The unexposed six-year-old will have no issues with what is likely to be quite testing conditions and looks overpriced at 15/2 in the Hexham closer (5.07).

Selection: Chance The Robin – General 15/2

The Robert Walford team could hardly be in any better form at present with their last three runners finding the winner's enclosure. The nine-year-old Elios D'Or is his only runner today and he looks interesting in the Kempton Racing TV Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at Kempton (7.25) this evening. Although 0-6 over hurdles he gets to run off 10 lbs lower than his chase mark and has scored four times over the larger obstacles. The form of his second-place finish in a Class 3 Handicap Chase at Worcester looks rock-solid and he can give backers a good run for their money at an each-way price.

Selection: Elios D'Or E/W – General 12/1
