We’ve found a few to follow from last week’s racing in SA.

Oakbank: Sir Randolph

Sir Randolph turned heads with a powerful performance in the last on Wednesday. After settling midfield and spotting the leader 3L, jockey Todd Pannell angled his mount to the extreme outside, launching a withering run down the fence. The five-year-old son of Churchill unleashed an electrifying turn of foot, effortlessly rounding up his rivals to win with a comfortable 2.2L margin.

Running to a new career peak rating of 75 on the Racing and Sports scale for trainer Andrew Clarken, sectional data suggests the margin could have been even greater had he been ridden closer in a race run at a dawdling early tempo. With further improvement expected third-up, Sir Randolph looks poised to return to the winner's circle again very soon.

Mt Gambier: Strazz

Although beaten a big margin, there was plenty to like about Strazz's return. Missing the start and giving away a significant head start, the three-year-old filly stormed home into third.

She was 7L adrift of the leading pair at the turn - yet unleashed a sharp finish - clocking a slick 33.28 seconds for her final sectional - to finish just 4L off them at the post.

If she can jump cleanly next time and settle within cooee of the speed, it's only a matter of time before she sheds the maiden tag.

Morphettville

Race 1: Dolcemente

Once again left with too much to do, the four-year-old mare hit the line with purpose to pick up a minor cheque. John Hyam has her going as well as ever, and she looks primed to peak fourth-up. A rise to 2000m appears ideal, and if she can settle a touch closer in the run, she'll be mighty hard to hold out.

Race 8: Reserve Bank

It would be remiss not to mention the maiden Group 1-winning colt, Reserve Bank. His victory in The Goodwood was nothing short of spectacular, dismantling a class field with ease and authority.

Sizzling home in 32.96 and returning a peak figure of 118, the data suggests he had more to give. The colt went to a whole new level in South Australia, sweeping all three starts in commanding fashion.

If he returns in the Spring with this form intact, he'll be a serious player. Reserve Bank is definitely one keep an eye on.
