Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 12.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Ballina, Gosford, Sale, Townsville
and Northam.
BALLINA: RACE 4 @ 1:45 PM
QUINKY DEEL (3) is bred to love the conditions and the distance. He may have to push on from the gate but that could well be the best play given he has shown speed over shorter. Must go close. MAGADAN (4) had things go wrong last outing when back in trip. Fancy him more now back to this journey. BRAVE BOY (6) runs again quickly here after a very decent effort. He will get back out of his ground but hit the line well. VIADELAMORE (2) came from last to be runner up two weeks ago. He should only build off that. GRIPPING (1) enjoyed the heavy going at Casino. Didn't have much luck at the barriers again.
SELECTIONS: Quinky Deel looks well placed up in ground.

GOSFORD: RACE 2 @ 1:25 PM
Handy race with plenty of emerging prospects. HAWKER HALL (3) third up now and expecting a better showing after tiring late when fifth from the outside gate over 900m at Newcastle. Can take control early and will have little trouble running the 1100m out with winning rider back aboard. HONEY PERFUME (6) comes here in peak condition and will relish the drop in trip on the firmer surface. Disappointed as the ($1.60 fav) when second over 1200m here last start. Doesn't have to improve much to win this. DONWON (2) will appreciate the 3kg claim again after getting off the mark at start nine over 1000m at this track. Well drawn for this and fitness should take him a long way. NOW YOU'VE DONE IT (7) lived up to expectations at first run back when closing strongly for a sharp win over 1000m here. Strengthened up and gets her chance again.
SELECTIONS: Hawker Hall in a keenly contested race.
SALE: RACE 8 @ 4:00 PM
DE BERGERAC (1) has the class to be winning a race like this. He resumes here having been tested in better company last time in. Third to Thames when fresh last time at Cranbourne reads well and with any luck from the gate he can prove too strong late. TOPHET (10) was good fresh at Moe before an even effort behind the same horse here last time out. Should be ready to peak now and maps well. HARPALEE (6) resumes with some strong form last time in. She's a consistent filly suited this level. NASRAAWY (2) is racing very well this time in, no match for a smart one at Pakenham last time but holding second well. Should give a sight. JAKIVY (9) is in flying form and should take beating again.
SELECTIONS: De Bergerac to win.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 6 @ 3:57 PM
WAR COUNCIL (2) had switched from a leading Sydney barn and was quickly on track, leading and spacing the Mackay Maidens by 4.4L. Keeps the top hoop and is still miles off his best. He can go on with the job. ELLEVES (6) ran a good figure when beaten 1L in a Bowen 50. Draws well and tumbles in weight at this level. That brings him into it. BELMONT PARK (3) resumed here in a CL1 in good order and impressed prior when winning his Maiden over this trip. Risks getting bottled up from the inside gate, but Stanley is a positive switch replacing the 3kg apprentice. Deserves consideration. UNDER THE SHADOW (8) has an outside barrier but is likely to show more today. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and she'd be a hope at best.
SELECTIONS: With War Council.
NORTHAM: RACE 6 @ 6:05 PM
OUR PALADIN AL (7) sat on the speed and kicked away to win very impressively at this track and trip last time out as a short-priced favourite. The wide draw may pose some issues, but he's clearly a horse with good ability and he looks ready to continue his way through the grades. FANCY RED (5) couldn't hold out when setting the tempo over 1400m here last week and will appreciate being in this easier race today. She has the speed to offset the wide gate and with Pike remaining in the saddle, she'll give them something to chase. MIRRORSCHINO (8) won over this trip at Ascot before stepping up to 2000m last start and winning again. Now a month between runs, but maps for a lovely run for Fiore and is expected to play a major role. MAJOR MARIO (4) comes through a strong race last start at Pinjarra and should be right in the mix up to the mile. LIEN HYPHEN (6) was good late last start and should be flying home once again.
SELECTIONS: Our Paladin Al can go back-to-back.
