The international appeal of Royal Ascot continues to grow with this year’s meeting set to be broadcast to 180 different territories through 30 broadcasters.
With nine different countries set to be represented across the five-day meeting, it is little surprise to see worldwide interest in the famous fixture. These include former US trained and raced Carl Spackler (Queen Anne Stakes), who will be having his first start in Europe for new Australian-based trainer Ciaron Maher; Asfoora (King Charles II Stakes), victorious in last year's King Charles II Stakes for Australia; and Satono Reve (Queen Elizabeth II Stakes), the sole Japanese hope who will be attempting to be the nation's first winner at Royal Ascot.
It is not only the racehorses who are attracting international attention. Jockeys from around the world will be competing at the Berkshire track, including James Mcdonald, Joao Moreira and Flavien Prat. Australian James McDonald boasts a strong book of rides through Wathnan Racing, Joao Moreira will be renewing his relationship with Satono Reve in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and the French born and now US-based Flavien Prat looking to extend his sparkling CV in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes aboard Facteur Cheval.
Jonathan Gregory, Chief Commercial Officer, Ascot Racecourse, said "We're incredibly proud of Royal Ascot and the enduring appeal it continues to hold for audiences around the world. None of this would be possible without the support and collaboration of our international broadcast partners, whose commitment plays such a vital role in showcasing the excitement, heritage and prestige of the Royal Meeting.
"This year is particularly special as we mark the 200th anniversary of the Royal Procession – a milestone we're delighted to honour through a specially commissioned programme that brings this historic tradition to life for a global audience."
