TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK May 30: SHADIZI is an import to follow through next season as he could be a high class performer. He's a stakeswinner of four of his eight starts in France up to 1600m and is ready to make his Australian debut after two easy trials. Had plenty to offer in a strong 1045m heat won by ESTADIO MESTALLA (65.16; 35.22), being kept under a hold from start to finish but really taking the eye with the way he made late ground between horses.

ROSEHILL May 29: Deep Field filly COSMIC EAGLE handled the conditions confidently for a soft win in her 900m heat (55.18; 35.39). She's now had four trials and is well educated for her debut. Other heat winners worth noting included ANG POW while those taking the eye with quiet trials included AGITA, HOW MUCH BETTER, PEREILLE and CENTRAL COAST.

WARWICK FARM May 26: Talented Exceed And Excel filly CELERITY has been highly regarded from day one but nothing much has gone right for her with two placings from four starts last year and three trials since she last raced in September. Her two recent trial efforts indicate she is on track for her maiden win, winning this 815m heat with plenty in reserve in one of the better times for the session (49.04; 34.55). Other Godolphin runners to perform with style included CINSAULT. In the 2YO trials over 787m youngsters that took the eye included CENTRAL COAST and JARRITO.

WARWICK FARM May 22: A full session on the polytrack by necessity due to the huge amount of rain that severely restricted the grass tracks at all courses. Poly trials are never a reliable guide but due to the need to give horses their required work there were a number of classy runners led by the G1 star JOLIESTAR. She finished last in her open heat over 740m won by the Group winner ANGEL CAPITAL (45.71; 34.53) but was seven and eight deep all the way and was never tested by James McDonald to finish about three lengths from the winner.

WARWICK FARM May 13: Godolphin's Exceed And Excel filly CELERITY was the pick of the maiden heat winners over 763m (46.23; 33.68). She been placed twice in four starts but has not been easy to train with three well-spaced trials since her last start last September. The runner-up in her heat CROSS TASMAN is an unraced Super Seth colt with a bright future. In the 2YO trials over 787m youngsters that took the eye included CENTRAL COAST and JARRITO. The talented HEADLEY GRANGE impressed with his late work in his 790m heat. Pleasing trial from Group One star KIMOCHI will have her ready for her Brisbane campaign. She was too classy for her rivals in the fastest of the three 1200m heats (73.36; 35.41) in her first trial since she failed in the All Aged Stakes last month. She had an issue after that race and it was good to see her work strongly, sitting second outside the lead and responding well when called on to stride clear to score by more than two lengths. PRIVATE EYE had his second trial since December with impressive late work in his 790m heat. He finished sixth, three lengths behind the winner, after Nash Rawiller rode him quietly at the rear before easing widest on the turn. It was only over the last 100m that he slipped the G1 winner some rein with his work through the line hard to miss.

ROSEHILL May 9: Deep Field filly MISS JONES has been placed in three of her four starts and her maiden win is not far away after she worked strongly to win her 900m heat (54.54; 34.21) with plenty in reserve in her first trial since February. Shalaa filly SWORDPLAY is another sharp 2YO runner for the Baker stable. She's now won two trials and again showed natural speed to dominate the fastest 900m heat (54.06; 34.79), leading easily and booting clear over the last 200m to score by more than four lengths.

RANDWICK May 5: Tassort filly MANAAJEM proved costly when failing at her second start after an impressive debut at the provincials. She's better than that as she showed here, cruising through her 740m heat for an effortless win under a big hold while running fast time over the last 400m (44.74' 33.90).

WARWICK FARM April 29: Mark down the sharp 796m heat winner SWORDPLAY (47.03; 34.40) as ready to perform when she debuts. Group One star PRIVATE EYE had an easy time in the heavy ground in his first trial since December. He finished fifth in a keenly run heat over 799m.

WARWICK FARM November 19: Blue Point filly SAPPHIRE ROSE won the fastest of the two 2YO heats over 802m (47.01; 33.62).
