Sandown-Hillside Race 5- Fire

This Hawkes trained gelding has always shown plenty of talent, easily winning his first Victorian start at Bendigo back in September last year but has been given plenty of time and this looks the preparation he's set to flourish. The son of Fastnet Rock was tipped out after a dominant win at this track and distance in the Summer and handled a good field here with contempt, sitting on the pace and kicking away for a comfortable win over a couple of handy 3yo's. He can make his way through the grades this campaign and looks up to open class.

Randwick-Kensington Race 2- Zoukerino

On a fairly slim day due to the heavy 10 tracks and subsequent small fields, Zoukerino shone on debut. He was given a great ride by Brenton Avdulla but it was pleasing to see the Snitzel  colt willing to push his way through tight gaps in the straight and once he did, the race was over as the two-year-old showed a nice turn of foot. Whether he can repeat the effort on a firmer track remains to be seen but he's one to keep an eye on, especially on wet ground.
